A Note About the Growth Charts

This past Sunday you received growth charts in class. These charts are a really excellent to help chart the age-appropriate progress that your children are making in class. As you can see at a quick glance, there are a lot of different ages that a child can start in Music Together, and that each age group there are different measures of the kinds of things to watch for in development depending on the child’s age. Having of you aware of this as a parent and knowing what is appropriate for your child is really important in order to guarantee that you can stimulate those things at home.

There is no end of creativity and you can draw on his apparent to make play time a musical time. The current collection lends itself very well to that, with lots of opportunity for call-and-response, substituting your child’s name is all sorts of songs, jumping, dancing and just playing around in general.  I recommend doing what we as teachers do, which is to take the books of the evening and just sit down and ask yourself what it is that you can do for particular song that baby you haven’t done before. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated or even exciting, just something unusual and different. Experimenting is part of the fun of trying to stimulate growth and a response from your child.  In fact, we as teachers would love to hear about that from you. We are always looking for good new ideas and good techniques to use in class.  Your input can really help!
