Music Theory Lessons in Toronto

Music Theory is how music works. Learning music theory is an excellent way to understand why music sounds the way it does, how music is built (in terms of melody, and harmony, and song writing and structure) and lays the foundation for writing music of your own, if you like.

Both children and adult music students benefit greatly from this understanding, as it usually goes hand-in-hand with broader musical growth in your playing, regardless of instrument. A recommended system is to pursue the Royal Conservatory of Music examination and grading system. This sets definite goals, and allows the student to gauge progress in a tangible manner. Even if you decide that the RCM examination is not of interest, the structure of going through the materials is a great way to mark your progress.

I’m 38 years old and I just started playing trumpet last summer.  I’ve been studying with ABC the whole time and I have learned a ton, and had a great time doing it.  My teacher is great and makes sure I work hard.  Thanks to my teacher, ABC and the gang for making ABC such a welcoming place for an old dog like me to learn a new trick.
